CT Tutorial - Carnival Queen

CT Tutorial made for the lovely Shani at Wicked Princess Scraps

Artwork © Verymany used with licence

Tube is called "Summer Carnival" and is available at VMT Store.

This gorgeous kit match which you'll need for this tutorial is Carnival Cutie

Click on either the tag or the kit preview to visit the store for more details -

SUPPLIES you will also require

Xero Graphics Greytinter (sadly, their site is no longer available but they encouraged redistribution of their plugs so somewhere else may have these free filters)

L&K Filters - Pia (again, I can't find the original download source so hopefully you have this one in your collection)

Weescotslass Mask - 391 - by Chelle
(Go to Chelle's site - look on the left and you'll see her masks are in bundles to download - you're looking for WSL_Mask391

Gradient Glow or Corona (optional)

Level of PSP Tagmaking Experience - Good to Intermediate

♥

Open a new Image in PSP - 750 pixels wide by 900 pixels high @72 dpi

FF the background layer with White

C&P your large tube close up (CU - not commercial use, CLOSE UP lol!) as a new Layer

It should - like mine - automatically place where needed and look ready to go

If not - Objects, Align and Centre in Canvas :)

♥

Then C&P the tube layer as a new Layer

Move over using the Move tool and move to the left - jiggle and line up as mine or similar

if you're using a similar tube if needed

Move down the LP (the Layer Palette) to underneath the CU layer to the left

Duplicate

Image

Mirror

Jiggle and line up as mine

Duplicate the CU layer

move down the LP to just above the White Background layer

♥

Open Paper 8

Copy the Paper

Back to the tag and

Add a New Layer

Selections, Select All

Edit, Paste into Selection

Selections None

Change the Blend Mode in the LP to Hard Light (or change it

for your own needs depending on the paper pattern or tubes you've used)

Layers, Merge Visible to a New Layer

Move this UP the LP to the top above the other layers

Duplicate this merged layer and hide the other layers except the Merged ones and White FF

♥

Hide the bottom merged layer leaving the White FF layer unhidden

On the top merged layer in the LP - apply the mask WSL_391

(Make sure you apply it as Fit to Layer)

Layers, Merge Group

Unhide the other Merged Layer in the LP

To this one apply Xero Graphics GreyTINTER with overall tint slider on 80

Apply

Duplicate this layer

and on the top copy

Apply the L&K Pia (the checkerboard/chequered board) filter with the slider on 70

and change the blend mode to Screen

♥

In your layer palette now, you should have from top down

The Masked Merged Layer

The Screened L&K Pia Merged Layer

The Tinted Merged Layer

Yes?

Excellent.

♥

So on the Screen L&K Layer - activated in the LP

Take your Eraser Tool on these settings -

and now gently and carefully erase away the screen layer at the bottom which is not really needed
as the paper provides a fabulous chequered floor already
You just want to blend at the edges and make the transition look more fluid

Like it?
Good

♥

Once you've done this
Hide the White FF (if not already done)
and Merge All Visible Layers

Delete the spare tube layers now and
any spare background layers you may have (?)

You're merging the three layers we already merged to one main layer

So now you have One Merged Main Layer
and
the White FF Background Layer

♥

At this point RESIZE as you'd like

I went to Resize by Percentage and chose 60% - so I resized 60% All Layers

(Careful with the Sharpening - make sure the image still looks good and is not too blurry OR too crispy)

Then

Hide the White FF

and

on the Merged Layer - apply Picture Frame as follows -

Then

Merge the Picture Frame and the Merged Layer VISIBLE

then go to

Image, Canvas Size

750 pixels

by

700 Pixels

Unhide the White FF

and Floodfill this layer once more with White

♥

So now here come the lovely bits - elements and such!

Please see the name of the element and the percentage number
then see my tag example to see if I moved it, placed it,
duplicated, mirrored, flipped,
placed above or below the main image framed layer -
to save me repeating myself 😊 and help my aching fingers loL!

SO, as this is a tutorial, please feel free to either copy MY example tutorial tag on this page above exactly or improvise with whatever you're using
(Once you get a feel for your scrapkit, you can usually guess what you need to resize by...)

Oh and Shadowing -
TIP: Shadow as Needed as you Go along otherwise it's a bit of a bind having to do it all at the end.
I used 2 - 2 - 53 - 9.90 - Black

CROWN               Resize by 80%        Move, Mirror, Duplicate And/Or Place as Needed
FLOWER 21        60%
LEAF1                 60%
LEAF4                 60%

Image - Canvas Size - UP WE GO To...

Make sure you select the top middle as the placement for the tag image

Onwards!

FF White the Background once more and zoom in if you need to - I like to see what I'm doing so I'm keeping it as it is

On with the elements -

BANISTER        50%        Move and Place as Mine        Good Deep Shadow
BORDER2         65%        Line Up at Bottom as Mine
CLUSTER4       30%        Line Up at Bottom Left and Duplicate as Needed
MASK6           NO RESIZE    Check my Tag to see the Layer Placement (just above White Back)
MASK5            40%        Place as Mine
BIRD3             NO RESIZE    Above the Blue Leaves layers
GLITTER        NO RESIZE    Place just above White Back

Your Full Body Tube - I resized mine by 50% of it's size and placed as seen.
I added a favourite tube shadow of mine, nice and deep so it looks realistically vivid

Add some Wordart if liked and place - I added some and rotated to the right, moved up the LP

Add your Name and place - Add Gradient Glow or Corona in a contrasting colour for pop!

And then finally - RESIZE once more if you prefer a much smaller tag

Crop any excess canvas if needed

Add your Artist CR Info - Licence Number - etc

Delete the White Background

Save a Copy as PNG and Save your Layered Version as a PSPImage so you can go back to it
Amend it and Add Names etc if liked

That's it!

Hope you enjoyed it xx
